WLAN stands for Wireless Local Area Network. You can connect your devices such as smartphones with WLAN.

Differences between Wi-Fi and WLAN

WLAN has not specified radio standards, but Wi-Fi based on the IEEE 802.11 standard.

Wi-Fi networks are WLANs, but the important difference is Wi-Fi is not the only type of WLAN

Wi-Fi can provide wireless coverage in an area with a radius of up to 90 m, while the WLAN can provide wireless coverage in an area with a radius of 5 km (with antennas used).

The biggest advantage of Wi-Fi is its high transmission speed (up to 11 Mbit/s). Wi-Fi is a short-distance wireless transmission technology applicable to offices and households.
