Usage of Raspberry Pi Configuration Tool

Raspberry Pi Configuration Tool

The Raspberry Pi Configuration Tool is a very powerful package which has an interface and you can control many settings by using this tool. Please follow below instructions to run Raspberry Pi Configuration Tool.

  1. Click here to open application menu
  2. Click Preferences
  3. Click Raspberry Pi Configuration to open it

As you can see the above screenshot, Raspberry Configuration Tool displays five tabs. These are;

  1. System
  2. Display
  3. Interfaces
  4. Performance
  5. Localization

System

System is where you can find the most useful tool.

  1. Password: You can change your password here
  2. Hostname: Customize your Raspberry Pi by changing the hostname
  3. Boot: It loads the Raspberry Pi “To Desktop or “To CLI” (CLI: Command Line Interface)
  4. Auto login: Raspbian will load the desktop by needing you to type your username and password according to your choice.
  5. Network at Boot: When “Wait for Network” is ticked, Raspbian will not load until it has a network connection
  6. Splash Screen: Disable or enable splash image.

Display

In this tab you can set resolution and display settings.

  1. Resolution: Change Resolution manually
  2. Pixel Doubling: It makes each pixel twice the size.

Interfaces

The Interfaces tab holds settings which control the hardware interfaces available on the Raspberry Pi.

  1. You can select an interface according to your hardware.

Performance

The Performance tab holds settings which control how much memory is available and how fast the Raspberry Pi processor runs and you can control the Fan settings if you have a fan.

  1. Overclock: Allows you to choose from a range of settings that increase the performance of the Raspberry Pi at.
  2. GPU Memory: You can adjust the amount of RAM
  3. Fan Settings

Localisation

Under the Localisation tab sit various international options.

  1. Locale: It allows you to choose your locale.
  2. Timezone: You can choose your regional time zone.
  3. Keyboard: You can choose your keyboard type, layout and language.
  4. Wi-Fi Country: It allows you to choose your country for radio regulation purpose
