Synaptic

The command-line based package management apt-get is well suited for scripted automated processes, but is anything but user-friendly. Much more comfort and further possibilities are offered the graphical package management Synaptic.

Install Synaptic

1. Open Terminal
2. To update package, run below command

sudo apt-get update

3. Install Synaptic with below command

sudo apt-get install synaptic

4. Press y and continue

Run Synaptic

1. Click application menu
2. Click Preferences
3. Click Synaptic Package Manager to run it

1. Choose your username
2. Type the password

Synaptic Interface

1. You can select a section to list its package
2. Tick the package which you want to install and confirm the installation
