Description

Motion is a free and open-source program for Linux that is used to capture and monitor video from cameras, either connected to a computer or available over a network. It is commonly used for surveillance and security purposes, as well as for applications such as motion detection and time-lapse video recording. Motion is designed to be lightweight and efficient, and it can run on a variety of hardware platforms, including Raspberry Pi and other low-power devices. It supports a wide range of camera types, including webcams, IP cameras, and analog cameras connected via capture cards. Using Motion, you can set up one or more cameras to capture video and monitor for motion. When motion is detected, the program can trigger a variety of actions, such as saving a still image or video, sending an email or SMS alert, or uploading the image or video to a remote server.
