How to setup VNC

no-139 au-05

VNC is a software for remote control. It’s useful when you are using for example a laptop and you don’t have a spare monitor for your Raspberry Pi.

Step 1

Please note that Raspberry Pi OS is changing constantly and by the time you are reading this instruction your menu could be visually different. Don’t worry the functionality is pretty much the same.

Open a terminal and type:

sudo raspi-config

Step 2

A familiar Raspberry Pi configurator tool should pop up.

Choose 3. Interface Options

Step 3

Now select P3 VNC

  1. VNC settings

Step 4

Now click Yes

After reboot, a real VNC icon will appear at the top right of your screen.

Double click it and a RealVNC software should pop up. Download RealVNC viewer app on your laptop/tablet/smartphone and enter the IP address shown on the Raspberry Pi.
