purge option

purge options allows you to remove a program completely. It means that removes everything related to a package including the configuration file.
apt remove command just removes the binaries of package. It does not remove the configuration file of package.

We’ve removed handbreak program using purge option below example. You can remove another program.

1. Enter below command.

sudo apt-get purge handbrake

All configuration files and binaries of packages are removed. You can increase your free space of Raspberry Pi when you remove a program using purge.
