GIMP change image

Run GIMP

You can edit your image with GIMP, but firstly you need to run it.

We’ll make a demo with GIMP and use basic specifications (changing size, crop and rotate) of GIMP. For more detail, see also articles in the RASP Library about GIMP and you can find here the website of GIMP.

  1. Click here to open Applications Menu
  2. Click Graphics
  3. Click GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP)

Open an Image

Now, we’ll open an image to edit it.

  1. Here is GIMP interface
  2. Click File
  3. Click Open, then go to your directory where the image is stored in

Change the size of image

Let’s change the size of image after open it with GIMP.

  1. You can see here the size of image. (779×779)
  2. Click Image
  3. Click Scale Image
  1. Change the image size. (We set 1000×1000)
  2. After your modification, click Scale

Crop the Image

You can crop a part of image with Crop Tool. We’ll crop the bird from our image.

  1. Click the Crop Tool
  2. You can select an area on the image by pressing the right click of mouse and moving it. After your selection, press enter.

Rotate the Image

  1. Click Image
  2. Click Transform
  3. Click an option from the list.

Export your edited image

You need to save your manipulated image.

  1. Click File
  2. Click Export As…
  1. Give a name your image
  2. Choose the directory where you want to save it.
  3. Click Export
